• Responsible for 1st play in
the field.
• Watches for touches and tag-ups at 1st and 2nd.
• Watches for base runners leaving early.
• Responsible for watching ball entering dead ball area by dugouts.
• Responsible for pick-off plays at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
• Watches for illegal pitches and check swings.
• Watches for batter hit by foul ball in the batter’s box.
• Responsible for granting time-outs.
• Responsible for infield fly.
• Responsible for watching for time plays.
• Responsible for keeping track of ball/strike count and number of outs.

|
• Calls all fair/foul balls.
• Calls all catch/no catch balls.
• Watches for pulled foot, interference, and swipe tags at 1st base.
• Calls all balls/strikes.
• Watches for touches and tag-ups at 3rd.
• Watches for touches at home plate.
• Watches for illegal pitches.
• Grants time outs.
• Informs official scorekeeper of substitutions and charged conferences.
• Takes runner from 1st into 3rd.
• Responsible for base awards and batting out of order adjustments.
• Responsible for calling infield fly.
• Responsible for keeping track of ball/strike count and number of outs.
