Little League Rules - General
The Haddam Little League abides by all rules as defined and published each year
by Little League Baseball. These rules adopted by the Haddam Little
League and apply for all games played in Haddam and are in addition to Little
League Baseball rules.
Game Times
Scheduled weekday games will not start prior to 5:30 pm. Weekend games may
start anytime after 8:00 am.
Pitch Counts (Major and Minor League Baseball)
The manager must remove the pitcher when said pitcher reaches his/her pitch
count limit. Once a pitcher has been removed from the position of
pitcher he/she can remain in the game at another pitcher except the position of
catcher unless 41 he/she threw not more the 41 pitches.
Maximum number of pitchers per day:
- League age 11 - 12: 85 pitches
- League age 9 - 10: 75 pitches
- League age 7 - 8: 50 pitches
Once a pitcher reaches his/her pitch count the following number of days rest
must be observed.
- 66 pitches or more: four (4) calendar days of rest.
- 51 - 65 pitches: three (3) calendar days of rest.
- 36 - 50 pitches: two (2) calendar days of rest
- 21 - 35 pitches: one (1) calendar day of rest.
- 1 - 20 pitches: no rest required.
Time Limits (Minor League Baseball)
No inning of play shall start 1 1/2 hours from the start time of the game.
Time Limits (Minor and Major Leagues)
No inning of play shall start past 7:30 pm for games played prior to June 1st.
No inning of play shall start past 8:00 pm for games played on or after
June 1st.
Run Limits (Major and Minor League Baseball)
A maximum of five (5) runs per inning can be scored by each team in a minor
league game except during the last half inning for each team. Their is no
maximum run limit for major league games. Their also is no mercy rule for
major or minor league games during the regular season.
Maximum Number of Coaches in Dugout
A maxmimum of three (3) coaches are allowed in the dugout during any game unless
a game time exception has been made by the game umpire. At least one adult
coach must remain in the dugout at all times.
Complete Game
If a game is terminated due to darkness or rain, it shall be considered a
complete game if 3 1/2 innings have been played played and the home team is
winning or 4 innings have been played and the visiting team is winning.
Length of Game (Major and Minor Leagues)
Each game is scheduled for 6 innings of play. Extra innings can be played
if the score is tied at the end of six innings unless a Time Limit rule apply.
Baseball Bats (Major and Minor Leagues)
Bats shall not exceed more than 33" in length and have a barrel diameter of less
than 2 1/4". Non-wood bats must have a BPF (bat performance factor rating
of 1.15 or less and must be legible at game time. The use of a COMPOSITE
BARRELL bate is not allowed unless a waiver has been issued by Little League
Baseball. All bats are inspected prior to each game.
